What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is a practise that originated in India with the Ayuverdic system of healing. It’s a Westernised version of a traditional art that promotes healthy hair and scalp.

Traditionally, only head is massaged – hence the name, but what we know as Indian Head Massage today includes the head, face, neck, arms, shoulders and upper back too.

Indian Head Massage works on the physical body and on the energy body too. It can relieve energy blockages in the neck and head area which are believed to be the root cause of all disease and ailments such as headaches, aches and pains.

It’s a truly Holistic Therapy that works on all parts of you including body, mind, soul and emotions. It’s extremely relaxing and helps to calm the mind and relieve stress or tension.

What Happens during an Indian Head Massage

After your personal treatment plan has been agreed, you’ll be left in private to undress as far as you feel comfortable. Please ask if assistance is required getting onto the table.

I will wait outside while you settle down and get comfortable on the couch ready for treatment.

During the treatment a blanket will be used to keep you warm and your modesty protected.

Part of treatment will be for the client to switch off and relax .

Oil will be used through the treatment suitable for client needs.

I will ask you if the pressure is suitable for you once or twice in the session.
